    Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

    About Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy was originally developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan to treat chronically suicidal individuals with borderline personality disorder and has since been shown to be effective for a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues such as substance abuse, depression, PTSD, and eating disorders. DBT is a highly innovative and practical treatment approach that utilizes skills training, mindfulness, and a variety of change strategies while relying heavily on validation, acceptance, and a nonjudgmental perspective. DBT therapists work hard to understand their client’s inner world in order to acknowledge how their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors make sense given the context of their unique situation and at the same time assisting the client in reducing problems and becoming more effective.

Mangrove Therapy Group uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including DBT to help clients address issues and become more effective in managing emotions and navigating through life.
