Local Events for Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness and Trauma Informed Care Month!
If you are in Palm Beach County or the surrounding areas, there are many local events that you can participate in to support mental health during this important month. Palm Beach County is continuing its Get Your Green On (GYGO) initiative to raise awareness on these important topics. We hope everyone wears green this month in support of mental health. Mental health is health!
Here are some events that are happening in our area:
On Saturday, April 29th in Dreher Park, West Palm Beach at 7:30 am. This is a race for runners and walkers of all ages
Join them for a special presentation about mental health issues related to pregnancy and postpartum. This training will benefit students, physicians, nurses, pregnancy care providers, mental health professionals, case managers, and any other professionals who support perinatal women.
“Hey Sistas” is a women’s support group for women of color to focus on health, wellness, and mental health awareness. The group will participate in fitness activities, as well as hear from expert guest speakers on health-related topics. 205 N Federal Highway, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460.
Take part in a mile-long walk along the Riverwalk of Downtown Stuart to raise funds and awareness for our local organization. Bring the whole family and your pets to support this wonderful cause. Your $35 registration fee includes a T-Shirt and a 1 Year Membership to NAMI Martin County.
This year’s event will be the signature event for the county-wide Get Your Green Campaign which aims to raise awareness by creating visible support and fostering safe spaces to talk openly about mental health and trauma. Attendees can look forward to special performances from Palm Beach County talent, special giveaways, and a live DJ for dancing. Since the theme is Super, they are encouraging guests to wear their favorite superhero costume or create a new mental health superhero. 313 NE 3rd St, Delray Beach, FL 33444.
The mission of PBC Youth Services is “Growing brighter futures by providing quality service, education, and access to resources and opportunities.” They are providing a variety of trainings on topics such as psychopharmacology in child and adolescent mental health care, adolescent substance abuse, supporting a grieving child, and more.
