    Claire Fountain, M.S., CCTP

    Certified Clinical Trauma Professional

    Certified Non-Linear Movement Method® Teacher

    Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern

Claire Fountain is a psychotherapist, yoga instructor, and writer whose honest approach to health embodies the union of authenticity, humanist theory, and everyday practice. Claire began teaching yoga in 2009, while continuing her studies in mindfulness and embodiment. With clients ranging from the top NBA, NFL, and MLB athletes to the likes of brands such as Amazon and Target; Claire’s unorthodox and realistic approach to yoga and mental health is grounded in education and experience. Her work focuses on the intersection of well-being, somatic healing, self-worth, and the stories we tell ourselves. Claire’s work ranges from private clients, a dozen e-books and articles, to international classes and speaking engagements.

Claire obtained her psychology degree from Vassar College and is certified in yoga and personal training. She received her Masters in Counseling from Wake Forest University, where she was an active member of Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society. Claire is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and is trained in EMDR and uses a mind-body approach with clients. She is a sex-positive, sexuality/gender/kink affirmative, and lived-experience counselor. Claire’s work is informed by narrative, feminist, existential, and psychoanalytical theories to best facilitate what clients might need for their healing journey. Her specialties include body image and body liberation, sexuality, sexual trauma, PTSD, and wellness as a human right.

She is the host of the forthcoming podcast Sex, Love & Body with Claire Fountain.

Claire has extensive experience with embodiment practice – that is, helping people to re-connect with their bodies and gain a greater awareness of their inner experiences, which is something that is important to the therapy and healing process but that is often difficult after experiencing childhood trauma. She is a Certified Non-Linear Movement Method® Teacher and utilizes this approach in her therapy and trainings.

When she is not working on breaking stereotypes in wellness, Claire can be found reading, listening to UK music, planning trips with her loved ones, or utilizing rest as the highest form of self-care. She has a deep love for tea and toast with jam.

“After personal experience with the power of EMDR to heal, I knew how important it was for me to be able to use EMDR with clients. Seeing clients experience an often-newfound ease and relief continues to inspire me and affirm the transformative nature of EMDR.” – Claire Fountain, Therapist

“We’re all just walking each other home.” – Ram Dass
